Haiti’s President Jovenel Moïse has been assassinated at his home

Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was shot dead on Wednesday after a group of unidentified individuals attacked his private residence.

Haiti Police Chief Leon Charles announced on a television briefing that four suspects were killed and two were arrested in an apparent hostage-taking situation.

He said that three officers captured by the suspected gunmen were freed, but “police are engaged in a battle with the assailants.” The First Lady was also reportedly injured in the attack is receiving treatment in Miami.
