Bhubaneswar: 23rd October 2023; HappyTap Hygiene Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Spring Health join hands to bring clean hands within reach for low income households in Rural Odisha. HappyTap Hygiene Solutions Pvt. Ltd. announce that it is finally bringing clean hands within reach to low income households in Odisha with the help of its partner Spring Health Water India Pvt. Ltd. starting 17th October, 2023.
Studies have proven that educating on handwashing alone is not enough, there needs to be access to clean, functional and conveniently located handwashing facilities for people to practice and maintain handwashing compliance at all critical moments. While the awareness for the need of handwashing is high, there remains a gap between awareness and actual practice due to lack of handwashing facilities or dedicated handwashing space in households and public institutions such as schools, anganwadi centers and healthcare facilities.
Globally, 1 in 4 that is at least 2 billion people cannot wash hands at home. In India, the National Family Health Survey shows that up to 40% households in Odisha and Jharkhand do not have access to water where they wash hands. This is the gap that HappyTap Hygiene Solutions and Spring Health hopes to tackle with their joint operation in the state of Odisha with their Next Generation Handwashing Stations.
The Next Generation Handwashing Stations do not require electricity, plumbing, construction or a constant source of water to operate and can be kept wherever required- inside the room, in the kitchen or even in the varenda. It not only helps in washing hands but also its specially designed tap helps save up to 75% water every handwash. This means that once the 15 liter tank is filled, a family of four can wash their hands for up to 4 days.
