Olympic sprinter Milkha Singh dies at age 91 from COVID-19
The track and field icon known as The Flying Sikh – who finished fourth in the 400-metre race at the 1960 Rome Olympics and won the gold medal in the 1958 Commonwealth Games – died late Friday due to complications from COVID-19, according to a statement released by his son, golfer Jeev Milkha Singh. He had been admitted to the COVID-19 ward in the Nehru Hospital Extension at PGIMER on June 3, according to The Indian Express. Singh’s wife, volleyball star Nirmal Saini, passed away on June 13 from COVID-19.
