Visit of 5T Chairman to Sapigen Biologix, Odisha Biotech Park, Andharua
Bhubaneswar : Bhubaneswar witnessed a momentous occasion today as Chairman 5T and Nabin Odisha paid a visit to the Sapigen Biologix Vaccine plant at Odisha Biotech Park, Andharua, Bhubaneswar. This visit marked a significant step towards the completion of the plant, which is in its final phase of commissioning.
The plant, with a capacity to produce a staggering 2.4 crore doses of various vaccines per day, is poised to become the largest vaccine manufacturing facility in the country once fully operational. Led by Dr. Krishna Ella of Bharat Biotech fame, this ambitious project represents an investment of Rs 1500 crores.
During his visit, Pandian meticulously inspected all the plant’s sub-units, engaging with both the management and the employees. He emphasized the importance of timely commissioning and instructed all government agencies to extend their full support to ensure the plant’s operational readiness within the next three months.
Highlighting the plant’s contribution to employment generation, Pandian revealed that the state-of-the-art facility is set to create 1500 direct jobs, with a focus on hiring locally from Odisha. Furthermore, the plant aims to produce over 15 different vaccines targeting diseases such as cholera and malaria.
The significance of this endeavor extends beyond the borders of Odisha, as the vaccines manufactured here will be supplied to various parts of the world. This not only enhances Odisha’s reputation in the field of biotechnology but also aligns with the state’s commitment to the motto “Every Life is Precious.” Millions of lives stand to be safeguarded worldwide through the vaccines produced in Bhubaneswar.
Pandian also underscored the government’s unwavering support for the biotechnology sector, citing the recently approved biotechnology policy by Naveen Patnaik’s cabinet. He expressed confidence that the establishment of this anchor manufacturing plant would attract numerous complementary biotechnology-related companies to the Odisha Biotech Park, fostering additional investments and job creation in this specialized field.
